New Album from Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young

After billy and I talking, we finally realized it was time to have our own album together..along with nils, and the big guy, we thank wholeheartedly, adding a song..we now have what we feel is a good one..we recorded them individually, due to pandemic..thus the title, thanks to billy …” all roads lead home”….
--Ralph Molina

Back in 2017, I started working on a collection of songs I’ve written over the past 20 years. Like my old friends, these songs have stuck with me over time and nourished my soul. Digging through old videos, audio clips, and the recesses of my memory, I reconstructed 10 songs, some old and some new, three of which are part of this Crazy Horse compilation.
The recording of what I call the “Hunter Sessions” began in late 2017 in the studio located at our ranch in the great northern plains of western South Dakota. That session saw the live recording of five songs, including “The Hunter”, a song that had been haunting me since Ryan and I first wrote it. The recording was done with a six-piece iteration of the Billy Talbot Band. Then in 2019, seven members of the band joined me at the ranch for another go-round where we recorded live, five more songs. With our Fender amps set up outside, the sound of eight musicians playing beautifully as one, carried across the fields of prairie grass and sage with no one but the cattle and pronghorn to hear. The two songs, “Rain”and “Cherish”, which I particularly love, were born out of these sessions.
Fast-forward to early 2020 when we all gathered at a studio in Oakland, California to do rough mixes and background harmonies. That work was completed in late January and early February. The night we finished we were happy and celebrating, carefree. The next day Covid news was everywhere.

I loved working on the All Roads Lead Home project!
Thrilled to share it now. After 53 years of friendship and music, it was a joy to participate.
Ralph, Billy and I each contributed our 3 best songs we’d be recording at home. Neil added a gorgeous bonus track, and this beautiful collection is ready to share. Honored and grateful to be a part of it.
Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
--Nils Lofgren

Playing with these guys for over 50 years is one of the greatest joys of my life.
