Some lesser-known features of the Sugar Mountain website
The third in a series of features based on the fascinating information to be found at www.sugarmtn.org
Many think of the Sugar Mountain website as ‘just’ the definitive listing of Neil’s live performances and setlists to date – which of course it is. But there is so much more information there, and so many more great features which many may not know about. Here then, together with direct links, is a selection of some of the most interesting of those lost ‘rock formations’. Check them out!
Timeline Concerts
If you ever get into a state of panic that you might just have missed one of the NYA Timeline Concerts, or have forgotten which ones are available on NYA, just keep an eye on this page:
https://www.sugarmtn.org/smnyaperf.php
Knowing the exact date, you can then track them down in their well-hidden spot in the tour “barcode” lists on the NYA Timeline. And a click on the date on the Sugar Mountain list will lead you to the setlist, band lineup, and all the other details of the show.
Want to know what Neil has said about his own songs?
Neil does not talk too much about specific songs these days. (Just think of all those raps we used to hear - and are now hearing again with the Official Bootleg Series!). No, Neil usually prefers to let his songs speak for themselves. But a lot of what he has said in the past can be found here on Sugar Mountain, listed by song title:
https://www.sugarmtn.org/smquotesall.php
There are quotations here covering more than 250 of Neil’s 600+ songs. And here is a tip: It is a pretty long alphabetical list, but if you use STRG+F in the open browser window you can quickly find the song you want.
Neil’s singles, compilation albums and more
NYA is obviously excellent for full details of Neil’s albums as well as a few singles with recordings that did not make it onto an album. But if you want to see a lot more of Neil’s single releases, including photographs of those lovely, illustrated covers etc., this is where you can find them:

But watch out. Sugar Mountain’s author says this area may not be 100% complete yet, as it is a work in progress. In my view it is still the most complete and accessible listing I have ever seen! For many of Neil’s films, try this separate section:

And for compilation albums go to:

I’ll present more goodies from Sugar Mountain next time around but do check the site out for yourself in the meantime!
Yours as ever
